Qnoto
Qnoto, as in Quick Note
Think it. Write it.
Jot it down. Fast.
Hover the MacBook notch and the note panel drops in. Think it, write it.
macOS 14 or later. Apple Silicon and Intel.
The problem
Inspiration should not die on the way to an app
A thought flashes. You switch windows, find the app, pick a notebook, then start typing. By then the sentence is gone.
Qnoto puts capture where your eyes already are — the notch at the top of the screen. Opening it is just moving the pointer.
How
Three steps
- Open — Hover the notch, or press ⌥⌘N. The panel slides down.
- Write — Type. Markdown, to-dos, links, screenshots — they all land at once.
- Tuck away — Move the pointer off. The panel hides. The note is already saved.
Features
Fast enough that you never wait
Hover to open. A global shortcut from anywhere. One Q in the menu bar. No Dock icon. No stolen focus.
-
Write Markdown like plain text
Headings, bold, lists, to-dos, quotes — one toolbar tap. Leave a line and it renders. Return to it and the source is back. Click a checkbox to tick it off.
-
Keep several notes open
Dots along the top switch notes. Cursor and scroll stay put. Paste a screenshot straight into the body.
-
Never remember to save
It writes when you pause, and again before hide or quit. Force-quit or overwrite the install — the notes are still there.
