1. Principles we follow
- Local-first: Activity records and media attachments stay on your device by default.
- You control optional features: iCloud sync, AI assistant, notifications, and similar features require your action to configure or enable.
- No sale of personal information: We do not sell your personal information.
- Minimum necessary: We process only what is needed to provide and improve product features.
2. What information we process
2.1 Content you create (on-device data)
Content you create or import in the app, including but not limited to:
- Activity names, categories, start/end times, durations, and note text;
- Preset activities and custom categories;
- Attached photos, videos, audio, and other media;
- Preferences such as appearance, language, and timer reminders.
This content is stored on your device by default.
2.2 iCloud sync (optional, Pro)
If you subscribe to Chrono Bee Pro and enable iCloud sync, and you are signed in with an Apple ID with iCloud available, the app may sync the following to your private iCloud data via Apple CloudKit for multi-device use:
- Text and time information for in-progress activities and timeline records;
- Metadata such as relative paths for attachments.
Not uploaded via this sync:
- Photo, video, or audio media files themselves;
- Secrets such as model API keys.
iCloud processing, storage, and security follow Apple’s terms and privacy policy. You can turn sync off anytime in the app; after that, new local changes are not written to that sync channel (data already in iCloud remains subject to your Apple ID / iCloud settings).
2.3 AI assistant and model configuration (optional)
You may configure a third-party model service (Base URL, model name, API Key). Specifically:
- API Keys are stored in the device Keychain and are not uploaded via the app’s iCloud sync;
- When you use the AI assistant, conversation content and activity summaries needed to answer are sent to the third-party model service you designate;
- We do not operate a default hosted model API for you; how third parties handle request data is governed by their privacy policies and terms.
Do not submit sensitive information to untrusted endpoints.
2.4 Subscription and purchase information
Pro subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed through the Apple App Store / StoreKit. Apple handles payment details; we cannot access full card numbers or similar sensitive payment data. We may receive limited entitlement signals (e.g. active status, product id, expiry-related info) to unlock features and restore purchases.
2.5 Device permissions and system capabilities
With your authorization or enablement, the app may use:
- Photo library / file pickers: to attach media to activities;
- Notifications: for timer reminders and similar;
- Live Activities: to show in-progress activity status;
- Network: for AI requests, restore purchases, and iCloud account status checks.
You can revoke permissions in system settings; features that depend on them may stop working.
2.6 Diagnostics and analytics
The product focuses on local functionality. We do not sell advertising profiles based on cross-app tracking. If we later introduce optional crash diagnostics or anonymous usage statistics, we will update this policy and provide choices or notices where applicable.
2.7 Support information you provide
When you contact us by email or similar channels, we process the contact details and issue description (and attachments) you provide to reply and troubleshoot.
3. How we use information
We use related information only for purposes such as:
- Providing core features: time tracking, footprint, stats, export, reminders, Live Activities;
- Providing iCloud sync and the AI assistant when you enable them;
- Verifying Pro entitlements and handling restore purchases;
- Responding to support requests and improving stability and experience;
- Meeting legal requirements or protecting users’ and our legitimate rights.
4. Sharing
Except as below, we do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties:
- Services you choose: e.g. third-party model services you configure, or system share/export you initiate;
- Apple: StoreKit, iCloud / CloudKit, push, and system capabilities provided under Apple’s rules;
- Legal requirements: when disclosure is required by law, regulation, or legal process;
- Rights protection: when necessary to prevent fraud, protect security, or respond to claims.
We do not use your activity record content to serve personalized ads via third parties.
5. Storage location and retention
- Local data: stays on your device for as long as you keep it. Uninstalling the app, clearing app data, or system-level wipes may make local content unrecoverable.
- iCloud data: follows Apple iCloud retention mechanisms and your Apple ID settings.
- Support email: retained for a reasonable period for customer service, generally no longer than needed for disputes and legal duties.
- Third-party model services: retention after a request arrives is decided by that provider.
Back up important data yourself via Export Data and device backups. Media attachments stay on-device by default and especially need separate backup.
6. Your choices and rights
Depending on applicable law where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict processing, or withdraw consent. For this app, common actions include:
- Editing or deleting activities, categories, and presets in-app;
- Turning off iCloud sync, clearing API Keys, disabling notifications;
- Managing permissions and subscriptions in system settings;
- Exporting a copy of on-device records;
- Uninstalling the app to remove local app data (this may not delete data already synced to iCloud; handle that in Apple ID / iCloud settings as needed).
For help deleting or correcting information from support email, contact 1390128154@qq.com. We will respond within a reasonable time.
If you are in the EU/EEA, UK, California, or other regions with additional rights, we will respond within the scope required by applicable law.
7. Children’s privacy
This app is not directed primarily at children. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information. If you believe we collected such information in error, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
(Age thresholds follow applicable local law — e.g. 13 in some regions, higher in others.)
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect on-device configuration and secrets (e.g. API Keys in Keychain). No electronic transmission or storage is perfectly secure. Protect your device unlock method, Apple ID, and any third-party API keys you configure.
9. International transfers
When you enable iCloud, or send AI requests to an overseas model service you designate, related data may be processed across borders on Apple’s or that provider’s infrastructure. Review Apple’s and the provider’s privacy notices in those cases.
10. Third-party services and links
The app may rely on or link to third parties (Apple, model providers you configure, etc.). Third parties have their own privacy policies; their practices are not governed by this policy. Read their terms before use.
11. Policy updates
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will adjust the “Last updated” date and publish the new version in an appropriate place. If changes materially affect your rights, we will provide in-app or other reasonable notice where feasible. Continued use means you acknowledge the updated policy; if you disagree, stop using and uninstall the app.
